1. I am excited to recommend Caitlin Howey for a position as self employed caregiver for Sparrow. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Caitlin for a year and a half now and have been continually impressed by her knowledge and professionalism, providing daily care and support for a very challenging client with complex needs, and seeing Caitlin provide care for other clients in the community whenever she could.
She is responsible, reliable, punctual and bright. With a great spirit, Caitlin is a natural carer, always encouraging her team to explore new activities, creating risk assessments and combining them into care plans. Her mature and confident approach is welcome when accurate information is needed to liaise with professionals and relatives.
When situations really needed a lead, Caitlin diligently followed the correct pathways when it could have been easier to take a less effective approach. Something she can be relied upon is to do the right thing. Caitlin has proven she has an abundance of life skills and a very likeable and caring personality any employer would be lucky to have.
2. Caitlin looked after my Great Aunt Joyce, from 2016-2017 when the care home my aunt was in closed. My Aunt loved her time at the care home and was always telling lovely stories about the staff. My Aunt told me about a time when she couldn’t sleep and she rang her bell, Caitlin came to answer my aunt who told Caitlin she couldn’t sleep, Caitlin said she liked to drink hot chocolate before bed as it relaxed her and that she would make my aunt one. My Aunt was happy with this as Caitlin made herself one as well and they sat and had a chat and drank their drinks. I remember my aunt told all the family who visited this and would tell Caitlin she couldn’t sleep most nights she was on so they could have a hot chocolate and a chat. At the time we didn’t know who it was as she was on nights. Caitlin then went on to days, and we found out and we were happy to put a face to the kind gesture.
Caitlin was always happy to answer questions we had about my aunt; she was always very polite and very factual. Caitlin always seemed to love her job and would get the residents dancing and moving to music, Caitlin loved to do afternoon teas for all. Caitlin always appeared very considerate and respected the residents. My Aunt always praised Caitlin in her demeanour and how she would always put the residents first. If I ever had any questions about my aunt regarding welfare or Drs appointments Caitlin would always relay all information, no matter how small is seemed and it was always written down in my aunts’ folder.
Caitlin always spoke and treated the residents as if they were family, knew everyone favourite drink and biscuit order and always made the residents feel cared for.
