About Carer

Hi, I’m Christine, married with two adult boys and a rescue cat called Enid. I have lived in and around the Newcastle area all my life.

I’ve worked in care for 3 years and find it such a rewarding and satisfying job. Prior to care work I worked as a National Pharmaceutical and Wellbeing Account Manager for 30 years, and travelled the whole of the UK, which has given me lots of experience and knowledge with regards to prescribed and over the counter medications.

My mother, who I also support, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year, which has enabled me to gain more experience in supporting people with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, with structured routines, clear communication, and patience.

I’m compassionate, thorough, reliable and efficient, and I’m comfortable with all aspects of personal care, catheter care, moving and handling, and supporting with hobbies, interests, appointments and outings. Providing a high level of care and client satisfaction is extremely important to me, and will always be my aim and priority.

1. I have known Christine since August 2023. I am operations lead and Christine was one of our Well Being Support Workers. I found her to be incredibly trustworthy, diligent and an excellent employee and carer. I have no specific concerns and was sad to see her leave the organisation, but I understood her reasoning.

2. Christine was a carer for my mum for almost 3 years. She was one of the most caring people you could ask for, so reliable and one hundred per cent trustworthy. My mum was in very safe hands with Christine, and it made our life so much easier knowing that she was cared for so well. Christine has so much empathy and put herself out in so many ways to make the last few years of my mum's life happy and comfortable. I could not put into words how happy she made our mum feel, and how much time and energy she gave to make things easier for everyone involved.

3. This reference was given verbally. Christine worked with the referee's mum over a period of 3-4 years through a care agency. The referee described Christine as "amazing, a lovely lady who goes above and beyond what you would expect her to do". She was trustworthy and caring. She went on to describe an evening when Christine had gone to put her mum to bed and her mum was really poorly. Christine called her to say she needed to come, and by the time she arrived Christine already had the paramedics with her mum, everything was taken care of. After the referee's mum went into a care home, Christine still came to visit her in her own time, showing how much she truly cared.
