About Carer

I’m a Registered Nurse in General and Psychiatric Nursing. I was a care home Manager for 18 years and Clinical Lead, so a lot of my experience is with elderly people.

I was born in Edinburgh but lived most of my life in the Scottish Borders before moving to North Broomhill near Amble, where I now live with my partner and dog. I have one son, Ralph, who works for an airline and spends most of his time abroad.

I have a few hobbies including gardening, cooking and motorcycling – I enjoy staying active and getting outdoors when I can. My years as a manager and clinical lead have given me strong organisational and communication skills, but what I really enjoy is the hands-on care work – building relationships with people and using my nursing experience to support them to live as independently and comfortably as possible in their own homes.

1. I have known Elspeth for a great number of years and our paths crossed from time to time both being in nursing. Through out these years I always found Elspeth as a cheery compassionate person. More recently when she came to work at QME Care we became very good friendsand worked closely together giving each other support. Elspeth is a very trustworthy person and would go that extra mile for our residents. She has very good communication skills whether with staff or relatives and showed a lot of respect for others, regardless of position. Elspeth would be very suited to being a self employed carer.

The only other comment I could make is that I miss Elspeth terribly, the laughs we had as well as the support she gave me in my role as training coordinator.

2. I have known Elspeth for many years as a manager and also l end nurse when I was manager at QME. Elspeth is extremely reliable, and works well on her own, and in a team. I would recommend her for any post she has applied for.
